Busy schedules due to kids' activities, social responsibilities, and work allow you
little time to commute to dog training classes. At Good Dog! we understand the
pressures of modern life and we can make training your dog a lot less stressful on
you by training you and your dog at home.
Good Dog! offers one-on-one training in your home, at the Western Pennsylvania
Humane Society, or at Valley Veterinary Hospital. We also offer discounts for WPA
Humane Members!
One-on-One Training is available:
- Tuesday - Friday daytime
- Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings
- Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the WPA Humane Society
- Tuesday afternoons and evenings at Valley Veterinary Hospital (vvapets.com).
Basic Obedience - With the exception of socializing with other dogs and people, we
can provide all of our classroom lessons – Sit, Down, Stay, leash walking, Come
when called, Leave It, Move, Off, and Park It - at home.
Good Manners and Beyond - Some issues are most effectively addressed at home:
Appropriate interactions with children
Greeting at the door
House training
Kitchen manners
Coming in from the yard when called
Fear of household objects
Elimination of attention seeking behavior such as barking
Puppy Head Start - Your home may also be the best place to start training your new
puppy! To avoid illness, puppies should be kept at home until fully inoculated. We
offer Puppy Head Start to get you on the right track early. Puppy Head Start is two
hours of puppy raising education and “obedience” training. This program is
designed for puppies of all ages and is especially beneficial to those between eight
and fifteen weeks old. We will help you tackle issues of nipping during handling and
play, barking in the crate, house training, coming when called, and calming during
exciting times.
Treatment of Aggression - In most cases, your home is the best place to start
working on aggression issues. Whether your dog is wary of strangers, protective of
your home, or challenging you or other family members for food and other resources
we can show you how to improve the situation. Force is unnecessary when dealing
with aggression. What is important is that the dog be rewarded for acceptable
behavior. We can design a plan for teaching your dog to be less reactive to reduce
and avoid incidents of aggression.
One-on-One Training sessions vary in price depending on the type of lessons and
amount of time we spend at your home. Please call for more information.
