Teen Puppy Training at Front Range Natural Pet

As an adolescent, your pup is in tune with all that is going on in the world around him. He wants it all and he wants it now! In this class we will focus his attention to you, fine-tune his basic obedience and improve his impulse control using positive reinforcement and rewards. Your pup will learn to wait for toys, greet people and dogs appropriately, and remain calm when there is excitement.

Your puppy does not need to have any previous formal training to attend Teen Puppy Training. We will reinforce him for what he knows and give him new skills that he needs as an adolescent. New lessons include STAY and COME with distractions, plus your puppy learns to tolerate noises, odd surfaces, and handling for a veterinary exam.

When your puppy completes both Puppy Training Class and Teen Puppy Training (or two 4-week sessions of Teen Puppy) he may qualify for the American Kennel Club STAR Puppy certificate.  This is a precursor to the AKC CGC evaluation for older dogs which is the gateway evaluation to training a therapy or service dog. A puppy that is an AKC STAR has been socialized, knows basic obedience, can walk nicely on leash to pass exciting distractions and has an owner that knows how to use the pup’s energy and keeps the pup safe with inoculations and identification.  Learn more at www.akc.org.

This 4-week class is limited to 4 teens and their people. Each week we will meet at Front Range Natural Pet at 1125 West Drake Road, Fort Collins. The course tuition is $140.00 payable at registration.

This small group class is age appropriate for your adolescent dogs 6 months to 8 months.

Pups must 1) have lived with you for 2 weeks prior to the start of class and 2) be fully inoculated at least 14 days prior to the start of class.

Wednesdays at 7pm April 24, and May 1, 8, 15
